The Dirtiest crawled out of Florence, Italy in 2015 and haven’t shut up since.
The Dirtiest are signed to Slovenly Recordings (USA) and Take The City Records.
Their debut 7″ Alarm landed on Slovenly in January 2016 (limited orange vinyl, 333 copies) — blown-out guitar string drag, gatling gun drums, and something that might be fingersnaps or pure chaos, funneled into a wind tunnel. One month later, KAT Records (Netherlands) dropped a cassette of outtakes from the same sessions. Between 2016 and 2017 the band toured relentlessly across France, Portugal, Greece, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Slovenia and Italy — sharing stages with Black Lips, Demon’s Claws, The Spits , The Clinic (UK), Third Sound, Bazooka, Los Explosivos, Chronics, Cut, Magnetix, The Anomalys and many more — and played the biggest garage-punk festivals on the circuit: We Are Loud (Greece), Barreiro Rocks (Portugal), Chee Chak (Czech Republic), Soundhalde (Germany).
In 2018, Slovenly encouraged them to do something almost no Italian band had dared before: sing in Italian. The result was Cento Shot — four short, scathing tracks of Spits-meets-Ramones skate-punk attack, pressed on 666 copies of black and blue vinyl. They got drunker and dirtier, ditched the sonic caterwaul of yore, and it worked. Slovenly founder Pete Menchetti — Italian by blood, New Yorker by birth — put it plainly: “They do it better.”
In 2021 came Sovranista, their first full LP on Slovenly: a double-sided declaration pressed on black vinyl, Italian side against English side. Lyrically, The Dirtiest bounced from brilliance to bonehead and back — showing deep disgust for the status quo in Italy and deep love for punk rock and all their pals in the scene. Musically, they picked up where the Ramones left the Spits and The Pizzas off, with unmistakably Italian flavour. Ten instant classics in Italian, rarely longer than two minutes each, followed by eight English-language bonus tracks exclusive to vinyl.
In April 2023 they hit Germany again for a full tour, before returning to the studio to work on what would become their most ambitious record yet.
Their second LP, Sooka (Take The City Records, January 2025), is catchy, fast, and funny as hell — 14 tracks delivered in Russian, Chinese, German, Korean, Italian, English and more, because at this point why stop at one language when you can offend everyone equally? The Sooka European tour (April 2025) took them through Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
In 2026 The Dirtiest stepped it up a notch. They opened for Jack White at the Arena Alpe Adria in Lignano, and played two dates of the Italian tour of punk legends Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, at Traffic in Rome and Circolo Magnolia in Milan. Big stages, loud amps, same old dirty attitude.
They travel light. And they’re certainly the fastest, hardest and most kick-ass punk music from Italy.
